Here at Dagny, we have a lot of individualistic personalities.
This shouldn’t be too surprising, given our connection to Ayn Rand’s philosophies and the different areas of domain expertise each of us brings. Yet when agentic tools come into the mix, there’s an equalizing force that challenges what might otherwise become stubborn thinking.
We all care about the quality of the outputs: the elegance of the creative and architectural design, and the way our solutions make end customers feel. That customer experience is the most reinforcing feedback loop of all.
Building Dagny is probably the only experience in my life where I can remember feeling free to express my opinion, come up with solutions of my own design, and push others without fearing that disagreement will hurt someone’s feelings. In the same way, I take in feedback and see how each member of the team brings their own perspective to the grey areas of building solutions. Those areas require cooperation, but not necessarily consensus.
Even though many of our team members are remote, we avoid the culture-eroding narratives that can grow around disagreement. At the end of the day, we know each person on the team is here to contribute their expertise.
The reality is that we’re all students of the technological and social changes underway. We remain humble about the fact that not everyone has the privilege of staying at the forefront of these changes as we do every day.
I’m grateful that we at Dagny continue to push each other and, in turn, bring novel solutions to partners who stand to benefit.
